Coyote Jones

  1. Red and blonde.

And then there's the melanistic coyote who shows up disproportionately often in my journal. Maybe the colouring is my own. Maybe I'm extrapolating.

    Questions:

    (1) If your species has multiple subspecies, is there a specific one or various ones that feel more at home to you?

    (2) Are there certain phenotypic/physical traits that feel right to you?

This is all assuming that at base, you're very possibly someone whose theriotype's ...

  2. Thoughts on Coyote

I was reluctant to identify as a coyote-like creature for a very long time. Coyotes, after all, are scrawny, a poor imitation of wolves, yipping instead of haunting howling, bone in place of muscle, a habit of attacking livestock, and the weight of thousands of years of oral stories placing them as the ambiguous trickster at best, and an evil coward at worst. Living a storied life whose story will never be told. Whose life is carried out in search of another one to teach, kin to teach. The need to keep moving ...

  5. Why coywolf?

The following is part of my introductory post from another therian hangout. It's very brief, but I thought I'd share anyhow. What makes me think I'm a coywolf and not a coyote or a wolf?
    ---

My story is long, very long, life-long. It tends to get detailed and poetic. I'll try to summarize here, as difficult as it is to summarize an identity. ("Why do you feel male?" to an FTM trans person, for example. Long story!)

I started out on the fringes of the ...
