Damn, Coyote Jones, I am so sorry. Losing a friend so young is so hard.
My groan: Moving has been wonderful and stressful all at once (thankfully we have a very diverse neighborhood where we are at in Utah which is a change from where we were living further south) but our groan right now are these damn goats head burrs. We thought we got all of them before we officially moved in. Then our dog discovered the breakthrough ones. Time to break out the vinegar and Epsom salts. >v<

PSA, if you ever get a deep puncture wound that is small and not worth bothering about, then you spend the rest of the day mucking around on a farm, you might end up being *very sorry* when it swells up and turns dark purple and you wind up at the emergency doc being dosed with antibiotics that are even more uncomfortable than the infection.
Between the fever and the side effects of ridiculously strong antibiotics, I am not having such a great week here.

Hope you're alright, Savage. Antibiotics suck to be on, but not as bad as the infections themselves.
My partner was almost killed in an accident two days ago. Like, t-boned by a motorcycle that was going 90mph in a 40mph limit. Had to adjust my kph-reading brain to comprehend how fast that actually is. Totalled the car, she's okay but we're still surprised she is. The bike had parts including the front wheel that went right through both the windshield and the side window she was sitting on. Stressful evening of reviewing the photos of the accident with her and the crash report and hearing her have a state of shock wondering how she's alive with just the bruising she has.
The dude who hit her is okay, by some miracle. Idiot was lucky to be thrown off the bike, because the ground treats you far kinder than being between those two machines ever will. I can't say I haven't thought bad thoughts about him since.
Insurance covered her at least for what was left on the car that's totalled, so she's out now getting a new one. All seems pretty okay, all things considered. But do you ever just stay awake at night thinking on the "what if"s? That's been my past 2 nights.

Better than I was when I wound up at the emergency doc, yeah. Fever's gone and so is most of the swelling, it's just No Fun to be on these heavy duty antibiotics. I'm definitely finishing them all up though, nothing good happens if you don't do that just because you feel better.
Hope your partner is all right and that she got checked out by a doc! That's got to suck.

Oh geez!! Savage, what weird timing - I had a similar thing this past week with a tiny wound. Mine went lymphatic - thankfully I didn’t have to go to the ER but I did have to go to urgent care and get on TWO antibiotics. So far, relatively good?? I’ve had some violently awful side effects from antibiotics before, but at least now I know I can safely take doxycycline.
Glad you’re on the mend! That sucks! Mine was some kind of tiny bug bite or something.
And holy crap, Jasper ... that’s wild. Not too often you hear about a motorcycle coming out better than the car in a collision. I’m so glad your partner is okay. That is terrifying. I hope she got checked out by a doc in case of any whiplash or other injuries that might not have been immediately obvious.

Wow it sounds like everyone is having a real shit month. I hope everyone gets better soon.

Also ready for the tendonitis in my Achille’s tendons to go away. I haven’t been able to go for my morning runs and I am not delighted about that. But I had to reduce the strain on them somehow, and with fieldwork, I can easily be hiking over 10 miles a day... something else had to give.
The left ankle was worse, but improving mostly, and then all of a sudden the right one started hurting horribly out of nowhere and hasn’t let up. Annoying. I need to implement an actual schedule of strength exercises and stretches to help them heal properly - I’m doing them, but so far without any formality or reminders.
Got some really grueling fieldwork next week and I’m hoping at least the one won’t be actively hurting with every step anymore by that point.

Thanks for the good wishes, my partner got herself checked out and all seems well aside from the nasty bruising that will settle with time. I was worried about concussions but the check-up does not show that, luckily, and the whiplash faded the evening after.
Aie that's really bad, Kisota. Are you able to see a specialist for your right ankle worsening? If it's affecting your field work that's extra problematic.

I’ve been working on this one drawing off and on now for a few days, and for whatever reason, it’s been stressing me out SO much that I can’t work on it for more than like an hour or two at a time. I never have this happen to me, and of all things, it’s a pic of mermaid Ben, so I really shouldn’t have this many issues with it, and yet...
I’ve been trying to draw this idea out for like three years now, so I am absolutely looking forward to getting this damn drawing done lmao. I typically do drawings all in one go, so splitting it up like this isn’t helping it be less stressful.
