You critters be carefull about wearing tails or furs in the woods or on hiking trips cause there's always the chance of getting shot by a far-sighted game hunter. I'd advise it to proberly be safer to do so at night or in a safe and protected area or forest with friends. And wear orange.

I don't know how I've never known about yarn tails up until now. Now I know what I'll spend my down time making before my next convention...

Though I'm the type that doesn't care what others think of me as long as I'm happy, I don't wear tails in public either, as I agree with the sentiment that most people unfortunately aren't yet evolved enough to not make critical negative judgments based on appearance. Though I used to get away with tying one of those satin scarves around my waist and turning the excess to fall somewhere between my hip and where a tail would go when I was younger. Just feeling my phantom tail is enough for me these days, but a scarf is still a viable better-than-nothing public outlet, I would think. People just think it's a fashionable belt.

Otherwise, I'd love to have one of those tails rigged to move with body motion.

I don't have a tail, but I want one. I plan to either purchase one from the medieval fair in March/ April (if I have the money, or my friend will make me a yarn one.

I can see myself wearing a tail in public, but not around my parents, since neither of them support nor like my therianthropy.

Yay the tail thread got revived! A friend of mine is an otter furry and he told me that he wanted a tail, but didn't have the money. I made this tail for him but made him swear that he bring it with him to college before he got it. I kept it under wraps so he had no idea he was getting it until I handed to him Tuesday. I can't describe how excited he was to get it! The tail is approximately two feet long, one third of his height and the appropriate length for a North American River Otter. For my first stuffed tail, I think it turned out well!

And here's my friend wearing it!

I also have my own yarn fox tail I made some time ago.

I only wear mine at home or at the hotel room at anime conventions. I did wear it out once or twice at Anime Expo.

I do not feel comfortable about making a tail or ears or such. Though I enjoyed the feeling of a tail each time I cosplayed for a convention or Halloween or such, I feel as if it would be betraying my nature to wear a costume of myself. Maybe a bit like a human would feel wearing a human costume.

I have a grey fox tail that I wear quite often even in public places, it really don't care about what other people think about it because it's something I love doing.

I have tails which I have worn at Halloween or in the carnival; when I dress up in a costume I tend to be a cat.
However I never wear them outside of fancy dress occasions. My phantom tail is strong enough to seem real to me, and while some tails do look lovely and very realistic, they could not move to mimic my phantom tail exactly. It would just feel as though the fake tail was getting in the way, an odd alien appendage not properly a part of me.
