I'm kidding))) This photo is from the north regions of Yakutia. People usually think that it is mosquito hell) I lived there for three month. And, interestingly, there was plenty of situations when I could rest from them, and not only go barefoot, but sometimes even not use any clothes. Not very often, but regularly enough. They are sensitive to wind and open terrain, dry whether and hot sun, cold, and, at the end of the summer they hiding from predators, like dragonflies)

So, nature is usually better than is seems.

Haha that picture is actually true in the south here. They kind of look like craneflies though, which people mistake for mosquitoes a lot- but they are larger and harmless. I don't mind them.
Yeah- I'd rather have a nice tranquil place like you describe.

It wasn't one place. It was variety of places and conditions across the land, that people usually think as mosquito hell.

And we travelled about 1200 km (750 mi) there.

That is the one thing I don't do when I go camping is walk around bare foot. I only walk around bear foot when I am at the beach. Or in my backyard. But never in the woods. Mostly because there are ticks in the woods here. Is also why I never go around bare foot.

I have heard that, in some parts of the North, the mosquitoes are so thick that they could drain a person dry. Not that they do, just that they could.

How warm did it get where you were, when you were there?

It is a land of contrasts) I was slightly beyond the polar circle, so in the middle of the summer sun never sets there. In the second half of June or in July the temperature could easily rise up to + 30 °C (86 °F) at clear sunny days) Rivers and creeks become warm enough to swim in a few days.)

But in cloudy days the temperature drops rapidly because of permafrost and sometimes winds from Arctic ocean) It could be about + 5 °С (41 °F) in the summer. In certain places it can even drops below freezing point when the weather changes. We saw hoarfrost once in the beginning of July)

Also, near the mountains it is possible to find large ice/snow sheets on the relatively flat terrain, that doesn't melt all the summer (but not a mountain glaciers).

The contrasts there are amazing) The piece of winter surrounded by everything green and blooming) I got there a personal achievement: "wallow in the snow in June")) This photos are made from the same place:

No. Shards of glass on the footpath, spikes in the grass that pierce into my feet (have to get tweezers and remove the spikes one by one), and general pollutants/trash/piss on the ground is something i do not want my feet to endure anymore. My human foot is not as rugged as i would like it to be.

Not a therian here but I'm fictionkin and two of my fictoypes are anthro animals, I like to go barefoot but not all the time.

Yes!!! As often as possible I am usually barefoot. The only time I'm not is in the snow/ice because I live in Canada and don't want frostbite anytime soon! Even now however, I'll run the dogs out shoeless in the cold, just avoiding stepping in the snow.

Especially in the not so freezing months I do everything outside barefoot.(Not always great when taking care of chickens but I've never learnt to care). The odd rock or sharp little something or other has never stopped me either.
