That's actually not an unpopular opinion. At all. I've seen more hate for it that is viewed as an unpopular opinion.

Internet memes (or rather, image macros and "reaction gifs") are an eyesore. It's become normalised to not even try to have a sense of humour, because now you can substitute it with stupid recycled jokes. It's instant gratification. You're not funny? Spam some badly compressed pictures with "relatable" text. That's how you become the humour king in one easy step. Recycle, regurgitate, repeat. A lot of re- words. In my opinion, the most avid users are themselves something that starts on re-.

It's weird to think about how little snow and ice we've had this winter. And the previous winters. When I was younger I remember much more of it--big snow drifts and several foot long icicles. Doesn't seem to happen anymore.

Daily thought: I need to get back in the kitchen and do some more cooking. Specifically those yummy goodies I don't have very often.

This evening I made banana bread. My next goal? Make potato soup and have it for dinner with my mate.

What kills me is when people take a bizarre amount of pride in their memes. And not even ones they've MADE! They think they're humor elite for being good at copy-pasting funny internet pictures? W H A T.

I really value a sense of humor in a person, and that can certainly include appreciation for cheap internet niche humor. But 90% of everything is shit, and internet image macros are probably only an exception in that an even higher percentage than that are shit. Even in the best case, sharing funny =/= BEING funny.

My daily thought: Leaving for field work a good 10 days earlier than I'd originally scheduled. It still feels far off. I'm antsy. This winter has been a drag.

I stood up too fast and got really lightheaded. This doesn't happen too often but it caught me off-guard because my leg was also numb. I had forgotten that I had been sitting on my left leg so that numbness and lightheadedness was scary together. Why is my brain like this? I need to stop googling shit.

I wish the weather would make it's mind up about how cold it wants to be. Some days it's up in the forties and some it's below 20.

Also trying to pick up creative writing is difficult. Kind of like several year's worth of writer's block, if that makes sense.
