Neighbor's dog- a fairly large and powerful type- is constantly being allowed to get into our backyard. We patch up one of the holes it busted through the fence, and it just makes a new one.

Someone insulted me the other day for thinking about myself too much. I do spend a lot of time thinking about my identity and place in the world. It's true. I don't do it because I think I'm more important than everyone else though, as the person who insulted me seemed to be implying. I think everyone should do more introspection. It's fun.

Yeah! Gosh, how insulting, though. Thinking about yourself and your place in the world doesn't mean megalomania. It can actually be a really humbling experience. I think a lot of people could benefit from thinking about it more.

Another kind of chilly day today! I'm glad it's not drizzling, at least. I have really been enjoying sitting and reading in my hammock on the balcony.

Nothing too fancy. I cheated by using a fire ring! This fire ring, to be precise. I have to clear lots of dry brush and maybe put down herbicide to get rid of the clover and other ground cover. Gotta get some gravel. I have a bowie knife along with the small scythe. The latter is really satisfying to use. It goes swish on bundles of thin reeds, taking them down effortlessly. It also slices and dices the tall thorny weeds with thick woody stems. I need to go trailblazing. Cut some paths out in our acres of field and small patches of woods. Harvest some firewood from dead trees.

I also purchased throwing knives and an axe. And, as I mentioned to Kiso over email, I finally have a compound bow and arrows! Even if it's used and, again, really nothing fancy. It's hard to get good archery equipment for under $500.

Yeah, what's wrong with introspection? I've gotten the same insult, back when a few former internet friends discovered my posts on this forum. "Self-obsessed." I . . . really don't see it that way? I'm here primarily for the company, because I'm interested in other people's thoughts and opinions. The person who lobbed that insult at you could probably stand to do a lot more reflection on themself and their own life. Being thoughtful and introspective doesn't mean you worship yourself, for chrissake.

Exactly! I like reading about other people, so I wish more people would be, uh, "self-obsessed" as they say. I want to read long essays about all these inner worlds I don't experience!

Been trying to eat less to lose weight. Not starving myself, but like...a few hundred calories less than usual. It's, I won't lie, super frickin hard. (I could make a gluttonous cormorant joke here.)
Also removed someone from my FB page because she started attacking my closest family members, and is diametrically opposed to me (and them) on a very important issue. I feel kind of guilty about it, like the decision to unfriend her was impulsive and perhaps too extreme. And those close family members still have her around. But I haven't entirely cut her off or blocked her. I just don't want to associate closely with such behavior anymore. When she changes, or at least stops attacking, then I'll re-add her. The way I see it, I'm doing this to keep the peace. I know how ugly it could get if I leave it unchecked. So I'm checking it, temporarily at least.
Of course, knowing me, every decision I make seems to be the wrong one, so I've probably just kicked off the Great Fuckening or something.

Got some glucose tablets that might help with the weakness I get from eating less.

Losing weight takes so much self-discipline! I'm taking a break from keto to try new recipes.

Today's daily thought is from Twitter:

@pancake_puns: "putting statues up is history; pulling them down makes more history. fans of history as an abstract concept need not worry. there is now more of it."

You don't need my permission, that term's been around for a while!
Yeah it does. Especially because, well, I'm a food fanatic. I predict this is going to be a long road of ups and downs. I'm not going to make radical changes, just small ones- that's how I stopped drinking an entire 2-liter of full calorie soda a day, anyway. Hopefully they stick.
Substituting vegetables for noodles is one of my favorites of the changes I've made. I actually like it better than noodles in most cases (though, nothing beats shells and cheese. cabbage and cheese? no thanks)

Yeah! This is a thing on the keto diet, too! I actually have this vegetable spiralizer. I've only tried it with zucchini so far. What about you? What kind of tools and veggies are you using?

You need to sauté or microwave the raw zucchini for maybe a minute at most and then you're good to go.

Shells are definitely a superior pasta shape.

I haven't been using a tool. I'd like to get one. I've just been, say, using shredded cabbage where I might have ramen noodles. Or substituting cabbage instead of rice. (I like cabbage, k) Or cucumbers. Or squash. I might try some new vegetables too.
I might order that pretty soon though.
