I've got a few from my past week camping for work. It's really starting to feel like spring. There were some great sweet wildflower smells.
The rock wall at the right in this photo had a cave I slept in.

Forest Wind, your sunny valley looks so welcoming. I love those secretive little spots to savor the sun. It's cloudy here, today, regrettably, or I'd be finding a good spot along my local trail to sun myself.
And Eli, of course your Yellowstone pics are incredible. Need to get out there sometime myself. I really hate when my outdoor adventures are too touristy, though, so finding a time when I feel like I can explore on my own rather than gawp with a herd of other people might be a little challenging, haha.

Recently I returned from a 5-day bike trip through the forests and couple of interesting natural areas of my region. Total covered distance was about 186 km (115 mi) which is comparable with good long bike trips of my childhood)
It's very good in the forests now. Almost no mosquitos yet. First couple of days of the trip it was rainy but really warm. The smells in a rainy blooming spring forest are absolutely beautiful. The second part of the trip was sunny, but a bit colder at nights.

Food) Tea with lingonberry leaves, rice and meat. I often take a piece of frozen meat in short non-serious trips to eat in the first or second day. To more serious trips where the weight limitations are more strict I take only dried meat.

The trip to my usual camping place (on yet another forest lake) was quite longer and harder than I expected. I got there only in deep dusk and was tired. Fortunately, there were a lot of firewood that I prepared earlier. In the evening:

That looks so refreshing. What beautiful forests, and how awesome that you're able to get out of the city and really savor them! Thank you for sharing.

It's interesting that Russian cities seem to have identifiably similar silhouettes in comparison with other countries.
This may be a dumb question(I know little about biking trips), but how do you distribute weight on the bike for your supplies? I hike, and the supplies for a five day trip are a bit heavy! I'm wondering how they are stored on a bike.

Well. It is actually a good question, because all is even more complicated) My current bike is double suspension one (pretty chip and basic) and they are really not suited for long trips! It was presented to me by a friend a few years ago, it works, so I use it)Originally Posted by TopBrass

As well as mount for water bottle, pump, and good fender mudguards (double suspensions usually have pretty crappy ones). Here are all modifications on the bike in "natural environment" after a day of rains:

Most dense and heavy stuff goes in the baggage bag. It has about 13 litres of volume but pretty steady. The light and soft stuff goes in the small backpack. Mostly clothing and sleeping equipment. Tents (well, I don't use actual tents I use awnings, or half-tents + campfires) are also tied to a baggage bag on top. This is one of my typical camps:

Second part of answer is that I use considerably less equipment than regular persons, as well as my food ration is almost perfect) Very lightweight, with very high nutritional value, and balanced on proteins, fats and carbohydrates. With this ration I need about 600 grams of food per person per day if I want to be efficient. It is a whole another topic that actually deserve a separate thread.
In short, 5 days is a very small trip for me. Some of my winter skiing trips are up to 14 days long, and in warm part of the year up to a month. So I don't need too much stuff for 5 days.

Forest Wind, I just wanted to backtrack to say that I looked at your photos and they are so very soothing! Especially the moss-covered forest floor. I'd even go barefoot for a bit. Ahh, visual escapism! Thanks for sharing those.

Your setup looks very spartan, but efficient. I carry a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad with me. They're nice, but take up a ton of room. Think my pack is about 40 liters. I also carry extra clothes, some basic medical and emergency supplies along with food and some tools. Outdoors living and survival is a very interesting subject, I can't say I'm all too knowledgeable or experienced about it. Like you, I like to sometimes bring some fresh meat and fresh ingredients and make a kind of hobo stew to have a fresh, hot meal on my first or second day. I prefer cured sausage because that keeps a little longer. Otherwise I usually eat those freeze dried meals, or for shorter trips, sometimes MREs(they're nice, but very bulky and heavy). Canned sardines and pilot bread is also a favorite of mine on the trail.
I haven't really tried to truly optimize my load or food, but that sounds like an interesting thought experiment.
